Psychotherapy for young women in Santa Barbara

Hello and welcome to my therapy practice. You are likely here because you are looking for help, either for yourself or a loved one. I am honored to be part of that journey. My aim is to support you as you move toward increased healing and wholeness in your life.

I take a collaborative, practical, and compassionate approach and empower you to recognize and utilize your strengths as a means of moving through fear, sadness, and insecurities.

While I focus primarily on young women in their teens and 20s, my practice is open to all ages, cultures, genders, sexualities, and relationship configurations. If you feel that I may be a good fit for you as your counselor, contact me and we can talk about what you are going through and set up an appointment if it seems right for you. I welcome the opportunity to support you in creating new, healthier, more productive ways of living, and ultimately, help you achieve increased peace and connection both with yourself and others (read more).

I offer individual, couples, and family sessions. When working with individuals, sometimes we will decide together to invite in your family members, such as a partner, child, parent, or sibling, to participate in one or more sessions. When we live in a family, we cannot help but be affected by these key people in our lives. Likewise, they cannot help but to be affected by us. Where it may be helpful, I work from a holistic approach to treat the individual by also at times working with their family.

My focus within my practice is treating adolescents, young adults, and highly sensitive people.

I use a Humanistic based approach in our work, and draw upon principles from Family Systems, Attachment, and Cognitive Behavioral models of therapy to support clients.

In addition to in-person sessions, I offer phone and video sessions to clients in the state of California.

What is an LMFT?

The Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) designation is a bit of a misnomer. Although we do have extensive training in marriage counseling and family therapy, we are also trained in other forms of therapy such as individual counseling and group therapy.  We are trained to assess, diagnose and treat individuals, couples, families and groups to achieve more satisfying and productive lives and relationships, whether these relationships are with one's family, friends, partner, co-workers, etc.. Additionally, we are trained in premarital counseling, child counseling, divorce or separation counseling, and other relationship counseling.  Marriage and Family Therapists are psychotherapists licensed by the State. Requirements for California licensure include a related doctoral or two/three year master's degree, passage of two comprehensive written examinations and at least 3,000 hour of supervised experience as a psychotherapist. My California Marriage and Family Therapist license number is LMFT#99393.
